The CAER manages the property where its buildings are housed. The bluegrass setting affords a mix of land uses, including: research, office, light industrial, agricultural, and recreational.
Ten miles off UK’s main campus, the site includes a five-acre lake, the Cane Run Creek watershed, and the Legacy Trail a 12-mile walking and biking trail which begins in downtown Lexington and runs through the research park to its destination at the Kentucky Horse Park.
CAER manages the 125 acre research complex where our buildings are located. Tenants include:

Park Campus
The Center has grown from a single 55,000 square-foot laboratory building to several facilities that together make up the CAER’s research efforts:
- Main Research Laboratory
- Biofuels Green House
- Carbon Spinline Building
- Minerals Research Building
- Spindletop Administrative Offices
- Renewable Fuels Laboratory (under construction), which will house the Kentucky-Argonne Battery Manufacturing Research and Development Center, in addition to other CAER departments
