VOLUME 1, NUMBER 5
October was characterized by three high-level events for CAER. The first was the annual Advisory Board Meeting of October 8. This meeting was well attended with Dr. Nietzel and Dr. Fink representing UK. Particular attention was given to the achievements and progress of CAER during the previous year and to the path forward. The lab's involvement in the KY Energy Policy development, the New Economy initiatives and the UK Task Force on Energy and the Environment, were stressed. Posters covering recent CAER research as well as overviews of the status of R&D at CAER were also presented.
The second event was the 25th Anniversary Dinner held the evening of October 8. About 150 people attended the function which was a fine celebration with Senator Wendell Ford, a founding father of CAER, as the main speaker. Awards were made to six CAER staff members who have been employed from the opening of the lab and also to four Advisory Board members who were members since the first Board was formed.
The third event was the Energy Summit arranged for October 9 (see above web site). At this occasion, several prominent speakers gave papers regarding Energy Policy.
All three events were well attended and they contributed to raising the image of CAER as a significant factor in the Kentucky R&D field.
