On January 16th, J.M. Vohs, of the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, presented a Fuel Science Seminar entitled, "Catalytic anodes for the direct oxidation of hydrocarbons in solid oxide fuel cells." This was followed by two speakers closer to home. The first was: Frank Huggins of UK's Dept. of Chemical and Materials Engineering, and was called "Trace elements in coal and ash: A spectroscopic view." The third speaker for this period was John Chaney from U of L who spoke on "Surface chemistry of oxygen, carbon and hydrogen on indium tin oxide with implications on work function modification."
