CAER Hosts US Energy Secretary for Innovation Forum

The University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research hosted U.S. Secretary for Energy Ernest Moniz, several senior staff members from the Department of Energy, and leaders from industry, academia and non-government agencies from across the nation for the Regional Energy Innovation Forum on April 21.

The forum was designed to create a dialogue between energy stakeholders about how to accelerate innovation into the marketplace by forming regional partnerships.

The event, which took place at UK's Commonwealth Stadium and included 100 invited guests from 11 U.S. states, kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Moniz and opening remarks from UK President Eli Capilouto.

DOE Panel at Forum

The balance of the day featured panel discussions moderated by senior DOE administrators. Panel topics included: Innovation, Combustion and Carbon Capture Sequestration; New Value Creation from Coal; and Technology Innovation as a Driver for Regional Energy and Economic Development.
