Prospects for coal and clean coal technologies in Russia

This report looks at the role of coal in Russia’s extensive energy market. An overview of Russia’s energy resources precedes a ore detailed look at coal reserves and trends in coal production. An assessment of coal’s use in power generation and for producing coking coal is followed by a review of the growing importance of coal for export. Finally, the report looks at improvements in the efficiency of burning coal in existing power plants and the anticipated introduction of new, cleaner coal technologies.
