The coal and ash research performed at the CAER starts at power plants, coal mines, and ash storage areas. These photos are a collection taken by various researchers while working in the field.

2003 International Ash Utilization Symposium
October saw the completion of another successful International Ash Utilization Symposium. This year's crowd of about 300 participants seemed to think it was the best in the series so far. The presenters, exhibitors, session chairs and organizers came together to create an educational, interactive, and enjoyable conference.

2005 World of Coal Ash Conference
Approximately 560 attendees participated at the first World of Coal Ash (WOCA) held in Lexington, Kentucky, April 11-15, 2005. The American Coal Ash Association and the Center for Applied Energy Research at the University of Kentucky combined their respective international symposia to create what many are considering the premier international coal ash conference.
