Abstract:
Sasol leads the world in the conversion of coal to oil and from its small beginning in 1954, has become a giant in the world of synthetic fuels and chemicals. Although initially only a synfuels producer, the group's process of continuous beneficiation has prompted Sasol to enter the fertilizer, mining explosives, polypropylene, phenolics and alpha-olefins markets. The focus of this presentation, however, will be on projects directly related to the optimal use of the company's coal reserves.
The following projects will be discussed:
- The Sasol Oil from Coal Process
- The Twistdraai Coal Export Project
- Sasol and the Environment
- The Production of Metallurgical Char
