This short course is being taught in conjunction with the 2007 World of Coal Ash (WOCA) conference, co-hosted by the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research and the American Coal Ash Association. It will cover basic information about the science and technology of coal combustion by-products and will be taught be experts from academia and industry. The course that was taught at the 2005 WOCA meeting has been expanded to include two parallel tracks, offering more choices for students. The course offers Professional Development Credits.

A breakfast gathering and send-off was held on August 31st for former CAER Director, Ari Geertsema and his wife Gina. It was attended by his colleagues, CAER Advisory Board Members, UK Faculty Associates, and CAER staff. Ari received a gift basket filled with Kentucky reminders. He will be moving to Denver, CO to take a position with a new company that plans to build decentralized biomass-to-ethanol facilities using gasification.Posted by Marybeth McAlister [Link]
