On April 26th, a group of state legislators, along with several members of the state's Legislative Research Commission learned about Kentucky's energy resources and what the CAER does to find out more about them. Javier Ruiz-Martinez is a Spanish graduate student from the University of Alicante. He is working in the Clean Fuels and Chemicals group at the CAER as part of a scholar exchange program with the Spanish institution.

The CAER is happy to announce Illayathambi (Victor) Kunadian has won second place in the oral presentation division of the University of Kentucky Graduate Student Interdisciplinary Conference for his presentation "Growth Kinetics of Carbon Nanotubes Synthesized via Floating Catalyst Chemical Vapor Deposition." Victor is a mechanical engineering graduate student, who has been a research assistant in the CAER’s Carbon Group for about two and a half years. He is pursuing a Ph.D.

(UK President Lee Todd listens to researcher Jack Groppo's explanation of ash research)
Dr. Lee Todd toured the CAER on April 9th and spoke with staff about the CAER's place within the university. Dr. Todd learned about nanotechnology, Fischer-Tropsch liquefaction, biomass research, and power plant emissions reduction work at the Center. Afterwards, he spoke to CAER staff regarding the university's quest to be a top 20 research institute, including energy's unique way of helping in that objective.Posted by Marybeth McAlister [Link]
