The CAER supplied all judges for this year's Russell Cave Elementary Science Fair. The six judges took on the 4th grade class, which also enjoys individual science demos by CAER researchers on a monthly basis. This year's volunteer judges were: Roger Perrone (who also took photos), Rolando Gonzalez, Brock Marrs, Datta Patil, Chris Swartz, and Courtney Fisk.

CAER employee Matthew Weisenberger successfully defended his dissertation in late November. Dr. Weisenberger's Ph.D. is in materials science and engineering.

Mauro Ribeiro, who is working towards his Ph.D. in chemistry, will be at the CAER for the next seven months. He is from Sao Paulo University in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He will be doing research on a project in the catalysis group.

Samuel Morton is a visiting scientist at the CAER for one year. He is from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, where he is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. While here, he will be working in the Biofuels Group. His research area of interest is in 'green separations,' while reducing energy demands.
