Dr. Burt Davis recently celebrated his 700th publication in a long and prestigious 48+ year career. Dr. Davis's first publication, co-authored with Wallace S. Brey, was in 1964 in the Journal of Catalysis, while he was a graduate student at the University of Florida.
He had already established himself as a prolific author before he came to the University of Kentucky having published 30 refereed publications from various organizations: St. Joseph's University (PA), University of Florida, John's Hopkins University, Potomac State and Mobil.
As Associate Director of the Clean Fuels and Chemical Research Group at the UK Center for Applied Energy Research, Dr. Davis has authored an additional 410 refereed papers before reaching the 700th publications mark.
His 700th publication was in Catalysis Letters, 142 (2012) 190-194 with M.K. Gnanamani and W.D. Shafer titled: "Deuterium exchange study for hydrogenation of D5-1-pentene (4,4,5,5,5) over conventional cobalt Fischer-Tropsch catalyst". This paper has produced a 63% refereed publication statistic.
Dr. Davis's research expertise includes direct and indirect liquefaction, catalysis in coal conversion, analysis of synfuels products and the relationship between coal structure and liquefaction behavior.
Dr. Davis is active in many societies and was the Recipient of the American Chemical Society's 2002 Henry H. Storch Award in Fuel Chemistry and was made an American Chemical Society Fellow in 2011.
