Biofuels researcher Andy Placido exhibited at The Teens on Wheels safety program in Boone County. The event is designed to educate teen drivers and their parents about first-time driving experiences and potential hazards they may encounter on the road. The annual event, sponsored by Boone County Cooperative Extension Service and the Boone County Sheriff’s office features a mock crash, three workshops and a mock trial.

The interactive booths provide opportunities for teens and their parents to talk with professionals in various fields about their areas of expertise, including: engineering, auto insurance, clerk of court, alternative fuels for the future, using GIS systems, Alcoholic Beverage Control, the Kentucky State Police Drive to Stay Alive Program and many others. Approximately 75 teens and their parents attended the August 31st event.
