Mark Crocker's Biofuels and Environmental Catalysis Group recently obtained $124K in funding for a year's work to develop a process for the catalytic upgrading of algae oil to hydrocarbon fuels.

Sapphire Energy was launched in May of 2007. Sapphire’s goal is to be the world’s leading producer of renewable petrochemical products. The company was named one of Business Week's best start up companies in 2008.
