Dr. Steve Lipka is among the few scientists to receive an award from an international research competition conducted by utility giant E.ON. More than 50 international universities and institutes from 11 countries submitted ideas on energy-storage technologies. The University of Kentucky was the only U.S. university to receive one of these awards.

Steve's research will focus on carbon capacitors to store energy. Specifically, CAER will study how to store energy using asymmetric carbon-based electrochemical capacitors instead of battereis, as has been done previously.
