On October 23rd Tom Robl and Jack Groppo could be found at the US EPA’s Coal Combustion Partnership Awards ceremony in Atlanta, where the two ECT Group members received an award a Special Recognition Award in Innovation. The award is for investigations of advanced coal by-product processing at the E.On-owned power plant in Ghent, Kentucky by researchers from CAER. The work was supported by a grant from the US DOE. In addition, this research has been recognized for its benefit to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is designated a Commonwealth Collaborative project by UK.
The Coal Combustion Products Partnership (C2P2) program is a cooperative effort among the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, American Coal Ash Association, Utility Solid Waste Activities Group, US Department of Energy, and US Federal Highway Administration to help promote the beneficial use of Coal Combustion Products (CCPs) and the environmental benefits that result from their use.
